What is tian zi ge?
Tian zi ge (田字格) is the square grid Chinese children use to learn handwriting. The dashed cross splits each box into four, which helps kids place each stroke and keep characters a steady size.
Tian zi ge or mi zi ge?
Mi zi ge (米字格) adds two diagonal lines. It helps with characters that have slanting strokes, like 人, 大 and 水, and is popular for calligraphy.
